The Lake House

This piece was requested and commissioned by my neighbor. She was looking for a gift for her mom for Christmas and decided that she was going to have me paint this scene. It was derived from a photograph(pictured below) of the lake house that was hand-built by her grandfather. She continued to tell me how many memories their family had at this lake house throughout the years and how much it would mean for me to paint this scene for her mom. Not only did I paint it and hand deliver it to my neighbor, I took special initiative to get a duplicate (at a smaller size) made for her. I always try my best to treat my clients right whether they’re my neighbor, family or some random person off the street; I do my best to treat all equally as I would want to be treated.

The painting was quite the challenge for me but I found my rhythm and things went quite smoothly! I did utilize my projector in order to ascertain the accuracy of the perspective of the house. I also used tape to ensure strong and crisp edges as I painted the background and inside the perimeter of the house shape. As I reached the detail stage of painting I began having some difficulty so in order to ensure the quality remained to a good standard, I broke out my acrylic paint pens so I could pop in those finishing touches. I did extrapolate some minor details, but let’s be honest, I wasn’t hired to copy the picture directly. I did my best to give an accurate representation and I believe my client/neighbor would agree that I accomplished my goal!
